BRACE OF ROW 10 STARTS FOR IDAFAR AT SILVERSTONE GP CIRCUIT

Competing at the 3.2-mile Northamptonshire track as part of the support package to the annual UK visit of the international World Series by Renault championship, the 18-year-old headed into today’s 25-minute qualifying run aiming to improve on the times he posted during Friday’s practice session and this he achieved with a best lap of 1m48.160 seconds (171.1km/h), placing him 19th on the grid.
 
Although not quite making the gains he had envisaged, and with fewer laps in which to qualify than would normally be the case due to the length of the full Grand Prix Circuit configuration, the Hillspeed racer did a solid job and his consistency showed when posting a second fastest lap time of 1m48.247 which also put him 19th on the grid for race two.
 
Arriving at Silverstone just outside the top 20 in the driver standings and eighth in the Graduate Cup rankings, the Ortolan and Gulf Computer Services backed driver will be in action tomorrow, Sunday, 5th July, in front of an expected crowd attendance of somewhere in the region of 100,000 spectators.
 
Round 11 of the 2009 Michelin Formula Renault UK Championship will begin the day’s track action at 09.00 with round 12 expected to commence at around 16.50. Both races are scheduled to be contested over a distance of 16 laps or to a maximum duration of 30 minutes.
