Eaves, in his Team Halfords Honda, romped away from the field to win comfortably from pole position. His win means he is tied for the lead of the championship with team-mate Matt Neal heading into this afternoon’s third race.
Neal finished second after passing Vauxhall’s Yvan Muller in the late stages. Muller, who came home in third, was lucky to stay on the track early on after a clash with arch enemy, SEAT’s Jason Plato.
The championship’s top ten reversed grid rule means that Eaves will start the third race from tenth position on the grid, with Neal ninth, Muller eighth and so on. On pole position, after finishing tenth in race two, will be Vauxhall’s new signing Gavin Smith.
