Team Active Motorsports, led by Ertan Nacaroglu, former driver of the Malboro Racing Team, did win the 2003 national championship, and was twice first runner-up in 2004 and 2005. This team notably discovered the young turkish gun Can Artam in 2002, who would be later a protagonist of the GP2 championship.
This year, the Turkish F3 championship will roll on 14 races, on the tracks of Izmir-Pinabaschi, Izmit, and the brand new Istanbul Formula 1 track. The races will also be live-transmitted on the local Fox Sport Tv.
Gerbi used to finish 5th in Endurance Formula X European Championship in 2004, realising a podium in Monza and a pole position in Dubaï. He also drove in race or test numerous racecars as Formula Renault, Formula Gloria, British F3, Formula BMW, Porsche, etc...
Ertan Nacaroglu (Team Director of Team Active Motorsports): "We believe that signing Julien brings a very competitive and colorful season to Turkish Formula 3 Championship. He has got a lot of potential which could get him very far in racing. We feel that he will do his best in Formula 3 and the team is fully committed to give him the best support in his quest for success. Julien completes our team and we are now ready to go for the season. We have assembled a lot of talent in our team who are among the best in their respective disciplines in Turkey and abroad. We created Team Active Motorsports with the intention of developing talent and preparing them for the top racing series. The staff we have managed to assemble have so far successfully contributed to the development of drivers such as Can Artam, Mert Aytug and we hope to repeat these success stories with Julien in the coming years.'
Julien Gerbi: "My choice was a carefully thought out decision. We had very interesting proposals, notably in the Eurocup Formula Renault championship, at which we gave a very serious thought. But the Turkish Formula 3 is in a real expansion, the nomber of races did double since last year, without turning into an unreasonable economic aspect. And at this step of my career, I must learn, get experienced instead of burning all stages. In an interview end of 2004, I did promise than I would be into the seat of a Formula 3 car in 2006, whatever happens. This will be true next week, and it will be to drive in the front row."
