And Mercedes-Benz driver Jamie Green will be the only one who is going do so with the same number as in 2007. Just as it was the case in 2007, the Briton will race with the number 5. At the same time, renowned DTM newcomer Ralf Schumacher also won’t have to accustom to a new figure on his car: the German was assigned the 11 – and in the 2007 Formula 1 World Championship season, his F1 racer also was decorated with this number.

Traditionally, the reigning Champion receives the number 1. For Mattias Ekström, it will be the second DTM season he is going to contest with the 1 on his car. In the 2005 season, after having won the 2004 title, the Swede’s Audi A4 DTM also was bearing the 1. Ekström’s Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline team-mate, Martin Tomczyk, will race with the 2 on his car. The numbers 3, 4, 5 and 6 were assigned to the Mercedes-Benz Team HWA drivers, Bruno Spengler, Paul di Resta, Jamie Green and Bernd Schneider. Fellow Mercedes-Benz driver Gary Paffett received the 7 and his Persson Motorsport team-mate the 8. Numbers 9 and 10 were assigned to Audi Sport Team Abt and are provided for Tom Kristensen and Timo Scheider respectively. The AMG Mercedes C-Classes of Ralf Schumacher and his Mücke Motorsport team-mate Maro Engel will bear the numbers 11 and 12. While the 13 was – as it is the case in most sports – not assigned.

The two Audi Sport Team Phoenix drivers, Alexandre Prémat and Oliver Jarvis, will contest the season as numbers 14 and 15 while the 16 was assigned to Susie Stoddart who also races for Team Persson. Audi Sport Team Rosberg drivers Mike Rockenfeller and Markus Winkelhock will be the numbers 18 and 19, on the DTM grid. Audi’s new signing Katherine Legge will race with the 20 on her car while her team-mate in the Audi customer team Futurecom TME – who has not yet been confirmed – will receive the 21.
