Álvaro Parente flew today to Bahrain to participate in the GP2 Asia Series race, which will take place next Friday. He is going to race with a Coloni’s team car.

The team brought a dream to the school in the form of Italy Luca Filippi’s own  GP2 Asia car. Italy Luca Filippi is one of the two drivers for MeritusMaharaGP team and also a previous GP2 winner and podium visitor at the Bahrain International Circuit.

The only Arab owned team in GP2 Asia - the F1 development series - MalaysiaQI-MeritusMaharaGP.com heads home for the third round of the 2010 GP2 Asia season in Bahrain with revived hopes after its driver line up of Luca Filippi and rookie Alexander Rossi showed good results, speed and potential in the second outing of the season in Abu Dhabi.

Italian Luca Filippi and Brazil Diego Nunes had a good start to their first day at Yas Marina circuit and finished first practice with best times of 1.55.269 (4th) and 1.55.573 (10th), having completed 11 and 12 laps respectively.

Reigning Euroseries 3000 Champion Will Bratt produced an outstanding performance during official GP2 Series testing at Paul Ricard in France this afternoon, Wednesday, 11th November, to end the outing fourth fastest on combined times – a mere 10th of a second shy of the best lap of the day.

It was not baking hot any longer on the Budapest track. The qualifying session temperature that had gone as high as 41°C on Thursday had  dropped to a reasonable 23°C. for race 1 and 26°C for race 2.

Andreas Zuber, the young driver from the UAE started his fourth GP2 season this weekend. Zuber who had qualified fifth was forced to retire in race 1 after a water leak and also retired from race 2 after contact with Rodriguez that damaged his car on lap six of the second race at the Catalunya track.

Today in the last round of the 2008-09 Asian GP2 Series Championship on the Sakhir circuit in Bahrain, DAMS finished its campaign in the best possible manner with a place on the rostrum. Jérôme d’Ambrosio made another of his spectacular comebacks to finish second.

Portugal's Alvaro Parente and Italy's Marco Bonanomi finished with the two cars in 11th and 8th places in this afternoon's 23-lap race in the last race of the season of the GP2 Asia Series. Parente earned the My Qi-Meritus.Mahara team a point after setting the fastest lap.

Kamui Kobayashi won the drivers’ title in the Asian GP2 Series on the Sakhir circuit in Bahrain. He finished fourth in the second-last race in the championship scoring enough points to put him clear of his nearest challenger.

TWO weeks after scoring one more point at their home race in Malaysia, My QI-Meritus.Mahara started are confident they can end the season on a high in Bahrain.

Before returning to GP2 Asia action this week-end on the Bahrain International Circuit at Sakhir, Marco Bonanomi  and Alvaro Parente, the two drivers for My QI Meritus.Mahara have been given the opportunity to fly and land a A330 Airbus at Bahrain Airport.
