Driving an Audi A4DTM, Dumfries-born McNish (35) set the 13th fastest time at the EuroSpeedway today (SAT).Allan stopped the clock at 1min 16.901secs, an average speed of 100.12mph, in the 30-minute time trials.

McNish, who started 14th and finished 11th on his DTM debut at Hockenheim two weeks ago, commented:  “Although I missed out on contesting the top-10 run-off by less than two-tenth’s of a second, I’m happy with the Audi and my performance.

“My time was the quickest I’d achieved in the previous three practice sessions and I feel very positive with the progress that has been made.  I firmly believe that I have a realistic chance of a top-eight race finish.”

Bromley’s Gary Paffett ultimately claimed pole-position in the later “Super Pole” top-10 run-off with fellow Mercedes Jamie Green, from Leicester, completing an “all British” front row for tomorrow’s 100-mile race comprising of 48-laps around the revised 2.12-mile EuroSpeedway circuit near Dresden in East Germany.
