Porsche Carrera Cup GB takes to the streets of Edinburgh

The high-speed show is expected to attract a huge crowd along Johnston Terrace, right next to the city's iconic castle. Fans will be able to meet the drivers during an autograph session before watching the cars being put through their paces in this unique event, which is entirely free.
 
The 420bhp 911GT3 Cup car will be entrusted to Scotsman Barry Horne for the demonstration runs. Barry was the inaugural Carrera Cup GB champion in 2003 and is now a Senior Driving Consultant for Porsche Cars GB, working from the Porsche Driving Experience Centre at Silverstone.
 
"I've not done anything like this before," said the Dunfermline-based driver. "It's going to be a great experience and I'm really looking forward to it. I feel very privileged to be asked to drive the car in Edinburgh."
 
Horne's connection with the Carrera Cup GB is strong as he is mentoring Aberdeen teenager Glynn Geddie in his first full season of racing in the championship. Glynn scored a fabulous double win in the pro-am1 category last time out at Snetterton and will be aiming to win again at Knockhill over the weekend.
 
Public admission to the Edinburgh event is free. The autograph session will start at midday on Castle Terrace (next to Johnston Terrace), with the first car expected 'on course' on Johnston Terrace at around 1.00pm.
