Multiple Olympic champion Christoph Langen had invited the two DTM-driver to ride down the ice track together with him in a bobsleigh.
“It was a little bit like a rollercoaster ride with your eyes blindfolded”, Lucas Luhr reported after the rough ride. “The forces, especially in the bankings, are just unbelievable.” In the corners, the two DTM-drivers were pushed into the sleigh with up to five times their own weight. Langen, Spengler, Luhr and brake man Sven Rühr just needed 50.81 seconds to go down the 1.240 kilometres long track with its 13 corners. “I was surprised by the speed at which we were going down the track”, said a visibly impressed Bruno Spengler. “However, not having any means of control during the run was a little bit unusual“, the 23-year old Franco-Canadian admitted. “In any case, it was a great experience, a big ‘thank you’ to Christoph Langen.”
The host was happy with his two passengers: The DTM-guys did a great job, although their heads went down quite far at the extreme pressure points in the bankings. I find it great that the two had the chance to have a look at my sport, which has quite a few things in common with motor sport. We also have to cope with things like aerodynamics, suspension set-up, driving skills, but above all with athletics”, Langen said.
Tomorrow at 14.00 h, all fans can watch the bobsleigh experience of Spengler and Luhr on TV. Together with its coverage of the world cup race, the ARD will also be showing the run of the two DTM-stars on Sunday from 14.00 h onwards.
